Sapphina Grace Roller

“Art runs in my veins, flows through my blood, and consumes my thoughts and ideas every day.

Seriously, art is literally in my blood. My name is Sapphina Roller, and my grandfather was the renowned Nigerian artist and professor, Solomon Irein Wangboje. His daughter and my mom, Emida Roller, followed in his footsteps. She’s a mural artist.

While I’m continuing the family tradition, I’m doing it in a whole new way. My focus and strength has been on portraits and travel scenes.

I’m a junior at Exploration Academy in Verona, and I know without a doubt that I’ll be pursuing art after graduation. I’m taking a workshop this summer at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and I’ll be visiting the Rhode Island School of Design in October.

Whatever path I take, I know one thing: I’m an artist, and I’ll never stop learning and creating art for others to enjoy.”
